CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR FOUR AT-LARGE SEATS ON
THE NORTHEAST REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Northeast Region of the Alliance for Community Media is now accepting nominations for four (4) at-large members of the Board of Directors. The term of these positions is two years beginning at the first Board meeting after the ACM National Conference.

The Purpose: The Northeast Region – the six New England states plus New York – is one of the most active ACM regions. Serving on the Board of Directors gives individuals the opportunity to become more involved with the Alliance, to promote regional communication and coordination with the National organization, and to represent the Region at the Annual Business Meeting. The Region’s main responsibility is to build the Alliance by recruiting new members, coordinating with state chapters to provide locally-based services to meet members’ needs, and engaging in activities that promote community media and further the Alliance’s goals. Current major program activities include a Fall Conference and Video Festival, a newsletter and website, and exploration of new training collaborations and opportunities.

The Expectations: We are looking for people who are willing to meet face-to-face at least two times a year (Spring and Fall), and participate in a 1 hour conference call every month. Candidates must be willing to serve actively on two committees of the region board as part of their service to the board. Board members are expected to attend all meetings, and (if possible) attend the ACM National Conference. Board members serve as a primary information resource for regional members, and should be accessible to all Alliance members. They also act as leaders in shaping and protecting community media in the Northeast.

Qualifications: All candidates for at-large members of the Northeast Region Board of Directors must be a member of the Alliance for Community Media. Any member who runs for an at-large seat shall, prior to election and during their term of office, publicly disclose all current involvement with a telecommunications entity in which financial compensation is involved. No voting member of the Board of Directors may serve as a paid staff member of the Alliance for Community Media.
