Michele Bailey has worked in the field of arts administration at the Vermont Arts Council since 1988. She is currently the Senior Program Manager, working closely with Council staff and partnering organizations in developing and implementing programs, grants and services to Vermont artists, arts organizations and schools. She also serves as the Council’s Accessibility Coordinator, helping to ensure that the Council’s programs and services are equally accessible to all and administers the Cultural Facilities grant program. In 2019 she received an ADA Coordinator Certificate from the Great Plains ADA Center and the University of Missouri. Since 1996, she has been responsible for administering the Council’s public art programs, including the Vermont Art in State Buildings Program, a public art program for new or renovated construction of State buildings. She has worked at the Council in partnership with the multiple state agencies and other organizations to assist with the development of pilot public art and creative placemaking programs such as the Council’s Animating Infrastructure grant program. Michele has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance Art with a minor in Dance from Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont.
