TheToWN.tv - Making progress

The Town of West Newbury (TheToWN.tv) has been starting up in earnest since the spring. I'd like to thank everyone who has lent a hand in providing insight and guidance along the way. As a fully volunteer based startup, we have relied heavily on the support of others to help guide us through the process. With our very limited funding, we have been able to assemble what I think will prove to be a relatively advanced and supportable environment. As of right now, our mix of products are:

- Website
- Joomla for general content management

Time for the ACM-NE Region 12th Annual Video Contest

Without a doubt, the summer has had a very soggy start here in the Northeast. One positive aspect of the endless dreary wet days is that we're really getting a lot of stuff done. One of my big projects in the next couple of weeks is kicking off the 12th (can you believe it?) Annual Video Contest. Every year we get more entries, which is a wonderful thing. So this year, we're trying something new to make ourselves more efficient and save time. Our Entry Form is going on-line!

IT'S NOT 'JUST' ACCESS

I don't know if any of you have ever attended an Emmy Awards ceremony, but last night I had the surreal pleasure of being at the one in Boston. It occurred to me, as I sat there waiting to hear if my daughter Jul3ia's name would be called, that access folks often underestimate our own value in the general scheme of television media. So many times I've heard people say, "Oh, it doesn't matter if the show isn't as slick as what you see on the other channels.

ACMNE09 - New Ways to Connect to One Another

ACM conferences are a great time to connect with your peers. The recently held ACM-NE Spring 09 Conference in Burlington VT put a new spin on this connection. Not only were we talking in the vendors' area and meeting up in the hallways, we were checking our phones for tweets and looking at just completed sessions on blip.tv, while uploading our status on Facebook and sending photos to Flickr.

Subject: PegMedia Passes 10,000 Mark!

PegMedia last night downloaded show episode number 10,000 and kept on flying by. That represents 10,000 DVD’s that didn’t have to be burnt, put in envelopes and mailed.

This is a test. This is only a test. Please ignore this test.

New and Cool Stuff from the NE Region

I have to say that Jason Daniels is doing a bang-up job with the website. And, in creating a blog space, a Twitter account for the conference and using other great new media stuff, he's dragging us, (some of us kicking and screaming) into the 21st century.

West Newbury - Cable Startup

Hello,

The Town of West Newbury (http://TheToWN.tv) will be starting up our website and cable casting operations within the next 6-8 weeks. We are excited to be able to start offering local access (PEG) to our community. There is an upswelling of interest in expanding the coverage of important information in our small community. We are looking forward to the new Cable Facilities to help enhance this process.

We have just purchased our broadcast equipment for delivery in 6-8 weeks, and we have selected a number of other items to help support our goals. We plan on implementing.
