Many of us are hungry for interesting ways to help increase our visibility in the community and to create opportunities to stay relevant.

We all know this is a recurring theme at many of our conferences because it is important for us to be mindful of how we position ourselves in this ever changing and evolving media ecosystem. Just look at how Cape Ann Television changed their name to 1623 Studios!

As we venture into new ways to challenge ourselves as community media centers, exciting ideas present themselves for branding, outreach engagement, partnerships on productions, networking events, festival screenings and educational tools. One immediate and accessible way to challenge yourself and to be a part of a new experience is to attend the Community Media 360 Storytelling and Filmmaking Training & VR Party on Friday, March 23rd from 12:30pm-4:45pm at Brookline Interactive Group.

Over the past two years, BIG has been developing in-house capacity and expertise in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and 360 production through their project, the Public VR Lab, which was co-founded with NCTV, in Northampton, MA. The ACM-NE is proud to be a co-sponsor for this interactive learning experience and are happy to support this through our ACMNE Mini Grant Program.

This training and party are specifically for community media professionals, so all ACM-NE members will receive a tuition discount for this mini-conference day! Three scholarships will be made available in the case media centers with budgets under $300K need such help.

We hope that many of you consider this a fun and exciting way to network, learn, share and create. Many ideas shared at this event may even inspire you to explore implementing VR programming at your community media center! More information is found on our website News.
